MEDFEST

FREE HEALTH CARE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN, CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS AND THE AGED.

MEDFEST aims to prioritize free health care for pregnant women, children up to 5 years old and the aged first and foremost in Ekiti State and by extension to all states in Nigeria and Africa via its platform. No doubt, some pregnant women may have access but cannot afford good maternal health care. They don't come to book their pregnancy or attend antenatal clinics due to financial constraints.Most times they end up in the hospital with severe maternal or fetal complications which could have been prevented via antenatal attendance by professional hands.Eventually It becomes a battle for the lives of the mother and child. With this, cost of care inevitably goes up too.

We plan to achieve the free health care scheme by creating a philanthropic umbrella, pulling philanthropists from everywhere in the world to financially (under strict monitoring of the funds generated) assist pregnant women and parents of children under 5 years and aged who cannot afford proper health care.

MEDFEST serves as the medium through which the beneficiaries get financial help and through which the philanthropists help them. Beneficiaries will have access to the philanthropic umbrella by visiting accredited hospitals or clinics.

Once every year, MEDFEST will organize an event in Ekiti State to appreciate and encourage philanthropists who have contributed immensely to this cause by honoring them and let the whole world know what they have done to save people’s lives, especially our pregnant women who could have died from complications of birth. We will also invite selected few of the beneficiaries to this event to meet those that helped them.

This scheme addresses the SDG’S 3(SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL 3) below among others;
3.1 By 2030, reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100 000 live births.
3.2 By 2030, end preventable deaths of newborns and children under 5 years of age, with all countries aiming to reduce neonatal mortality to at least as low as 12 per 1000 live births and under-5 mortality to at least as low as 25 per 1000 live births.
